Tower of London

Last week, Daisy class went to the Tower of London as part of our History topic on old and new buildings. We met a knight who told us all about life in the castle for a King, Queen and Knight. We even got to see the Crown jewels which are guarded by soldiers!

Our writing this week has been linked to writing descriptions of the crown jewels and seeing a dragon in the White Tower.

BING BANG BONG – Building Junk Instruments

This blog has been written by Bramble class altogether as a shared write!

This week in FAB with Saul we got to build fun instruments including drums and shakers from junk! The kinds of junk we used were saved from recycled rubbish from home. We were also very lucky because Saul brought in all sort of other materials we needed to make them properly. While constructing them, we explored sounds that they made and thought about trying to include two or more tones. By the end of the workshop Louise’s ears had nearly burst as the drums, shakers and now horns blasted down the corridor.

Super Scientists!

On Friday 17th January, Year 4 took a trip to the Science Museum and had a wonderful day full of exploration and excitement. We enjoyed looking around the technology section of the museum, looking at how modes of technology have changed and developed over time. We then experienced an explosion workshop and some members of Brookfield were lucky enough to be chosen as volunteers! Heame even wore a protective glove which was set fire to in front of the audience! We then had the opportunity to explore the Wonderlab, which was full of exciting things. After our very busy day, some of us fell fast asleep on the tube home. A very successful trip indeed!

The Beauty of Music!

This week we have launched our Year 4 F.A.B project with the Junk Orchestra! Linking to our topic of “Communication”, we have been talking about how we can share and communicate our emotions through music! We listened to different genres of music and discussed what they made us think of, and how they made us feel. We learned that there is no right or wrong answer and the music makes us all feel different emotions. Saul then introduced us to his junk orchestra and we enjoyed creating music which caused our audience to feel different emotions.

Let’s Construct!

Reception’s theme this half term is ‘Let’s Construct’ and we wasted no time getting started! Children explored the junk modeling area and creative corners making wands, binoculars, and much more!

Outside we used our loose parts crates and blocks to design a vehicle that was an airplane, tractor and bus all in one.
